Cold Snap!

its seems ive had a bit of a blogging break...it wasnt intentional but the long weekend had us out & about and then a sudden cold snap hit Sydney
(Autumn is finally here!!)
so that bought us back indoors
- all Ive been doing is cooking, crocheting and reading novels....
im loving this cooler weather actually
im looking forward to getting out the woollens, opaque tights and leather boots...not long now
another thing i love when its cold outside is hearty soup to warm the insides...yum yum!

i made some french onion soup as my inlaws gave us a large bag of onions (next, I'll make onion tart)
and used this Donna Hay recipe - delicious!!
i crumbled some sharp cheese in mine for extra bite!

The wheel of Fashion: what goes around comes around....The Crop Cut

easy, no-fuss hairdo,
already seen sported by some young hollywood and fashion types...

would you feel exposed with such a short do?
I guess it would only suit fine, smooth hair texture (and features)
... but would instantly make your eyes appear larger (or help with a heavy 60's eyeliner look?)
in any case you'd definetely need to make sure your ears are wax free!

The beauty of doing nothing....
that was what the last five days were like for me - i do love a getaway...a getaway with no set plans, just idle days, long meals...walking, browsing, reading ...the boys swam daily, played with their cousins and took in lots of fresh air!
i did plan to crochet more than i did but the weather was just too good and in the evenings after the kids were in bed we all sat around and played rummy...
back home to a dusty house
and a huge bag of laundry!
i spent the morning washing then off to two soccer games (one son's team won, the others lost), took my car in for a pinkslip, grabbed a coffee while i waited, then it was off to get my gray hair-roots dyed, came home starving, made a peanut butter sandwich,
more laundry washing,
made some chicken stock (from scratch) for soup, we had an early dinner - soup, baked fish and a salad, cleaned up then it was off to the supermarket at 7.30pm (very busy!),
ironed for 2hrs and here I am....
its time for bed!
tommorow wont be any easier as its our niece's kitchen tea/bridal shower so its up early as I need to make some savouries and sweets to take along...should be a great day though! im getting excited for her!
Happy Sunday to you too.......

a night to remember.....

Yesterday feeling a little bored we decided to take the boys ten pin bowling.

Our nearest bowling alley has a 'disco' theme, its borderline tacky but always fun with huge disco balls, a jukebox, retro furniture as well as TV screens showing vintage music clips ...

one of the songs that played was
'a Night to remember' by Shalamar (1982) which got me grooving on the spot ,
its been in my head all day again today...

its one of those songs
that needs to be played when getting ready to head out on the town...
we always used to put music on to get in the mood, taking ages to decide what to wear...
carefully applying our makeup
and looking foward to a great night out...ahhh the memories!
