a girl called Paula

I've been a fan of Paula's illustrations for so long, she is constantly creating such beautiful work for both her clients, commissions and for her Etsy shop,
'Sweet William' , a collaboraton with her sister Shelley.
Together they unite for all things creative!
Lets head down to Melbourne to meet Paula,
a creative girl you should all get to know!

Welcome Paula!
Can you tell us what is currently inspiring you?
Ooooh - I flit around all over the place when it comes to inspiration.
On one hand I am very inspired by all the graphic shapes and flat colours and the simplicity of pattern such as in the work by Ashley Goldberg and designs by Marimekko .
On the other hand I am loving all the looseness and energy of watercolour and ink, just playing around with uncontrolled, beautiful messes.
I am continuously inspired by colour and pattern.

Name 3 things you couldn't live without right now?
Tea, colour, solitude

Can you define to us your personal style?
Messy, colourful, eclectic, non-formulaic.
I prefer the un perfect things  - I love the waver in a hand drawn line.
Do you have a current favourite colour (or colour combinations)?
I love the mix of pastels and brights - I am a bit obsessed with that at the moment, the juxtaposition of soft and bold strong, colours
together - eg. 'watercolor patterns in pink'

What is your favourite Smell or Fragrance?
The scent of lavender always makes me feel calm. I also love the perfume called 'Pure' by DKNY, it is very light and fresh.

What do you love about your City/Town?
I love the scope of what is on offer in and around Melbourne.
There is plenty of creativity and cafe culture to plug into for a bit of an urban buzz or you can easily go for a walk and enjoy the quietness of the bush.

and lastly, do you have a favourite quote you'd like to share with us?

' Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful.'
- William Morris
and of course: "where there's tea there's hope"
- Arthur Wing Pinero.

Thanks so much Paula!
 - make sure you ALL head on over to connect with Paula and see more of her gorgeous work.
