Take me back.....
Following on with Pip's (happy birthday Pip!!!) vintage illustration week, here is another childhood favourite.
Holly Hobbie
i loved the books as a child and have a few vintage ones plus a couple of plates ......have you seen the modern Holly Hobbie? she's ghastly!!!
Maybe I just love the vintage girl much more.....these images are from 'Holly Hobbie's Nursery Rhymes'
*You can see all my Vintage illustrations and images on my Flickr set here*
You cant beat Holly Hobbie for sweetness and charm. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous... i got your e-mails and will write later today, sorry been super busy but I love everything xx
ReplyDeleteHolly Hobbie sure is lovely, I remember her from my own childhood. I hadn't realised they've reinvented her.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know they'd reinvented Holly Hobby either. She was definitely a big part of my childhood. I even remember having crockery with her on it (I think it may have been an Avon bowl, cup and spoon set, or something like that). Everything old is new again eh?
ReplyDeleteAhhhh, these are so cute.
ReplyDeleteOhhhh, I always loved Holly Hobbie too. Have not seen the new one.....hmmmmmmmm. Yep, she was perfectly sweet.

Oh.. you are a gem! What a lovely post. I love Holly Hobbie too! I have a little bit of a collection of ceramics... but only one book.. it's a goody though!
ReplyDeleteOoh Holly Hobbie, love her! I was crazy about here as a girl, and I remember trying to copy the illustrations in my schoolbooks. I have in my collection some annuals, some swap cards, a set of greeting cards and a little Holly Hobbie lunch box with a flask in! I had a cute little bag too but I gave it to Angela (Three Buttons).
ReplyDeleteHolly Hobbie is such a favorite of mine. I have a little statue on my dresser that my DH gave me before we were married over 25 years ago!!
ReplyDeleteI adore Holly Hobbie and am a little jealous that you have some of her books:) the patchwork umbrella is so sweet. I have a beautiful holly hobbie smock from Ingrid that we treasure. I had heard the HH fabric was to be brought out again. I hope it doesn't feature the new version. She IS ghastly!!!
ReplyDeleteOh thank you, thank you for posting Holly Hobby pics. They take me right back to about 3 years old, I loved her so much!
