I spotted this Health Elixir recipe re-created by TV Chef,
Pete Evans in the latest Coles magazine.
Pete was recently in Bali on a surfing trip where he first tried the drink.
I thought it sounded delicious and wanted to give it a try...so I did!
Healthy Elixir
Serves 1
1 orange - juiced
1 lemon - juiced
1/2 cup filtered water
1cm fresh tumeric - peeled and grated (use gloves otherwise it'll stain your fingers like smokers stain - gross!)
1 teaspoon manuka honey (or any honey you have on hand)
Pinch of ground cloves
Mix it all up - stir in the honey, grated tumeric and clove
serve!
and feel so gooood!!!
Oh Yeah!!!

Looks and sounds delicious!
ReplyDeleteLol on the turmeric...I did that once and forgot to wear gloves and looked like an Ooompa Loompa from Willy Wonka! :-p
I have an abundance of fresh turmeric in the garden. I was thinking I'd try the turmeric and milk thing this winter, but this looks more like something to my taste. Was it good?
ReplyDeleteits really delicious Katie - give it a go!
ReplyDeleteyes - I learnt the hard way and stained my fingers...
This sounds amazing. Thanks for sharing. I will try to make it soon.
ReplyDeleteI'll have to give this a go as I know Pete Evans only eats healthy food now. I'd love it if he brought out a healthy cookbook (hopefully that will come). The have the most delicious drinks in Bali, when I was there last year we had this lovely tea made with limes, sugar and ginger..beautiful!
ReplyDeleteDid it taste as good as you thought it would? I'd be a tad scared to try it, but I've been trying to be better about trying new flavors!
